The short answer
Growth Informer Software Services is a software company in Kampala that builds business systems for organisations in Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono and Entebbe: POS and inventory, ERP, SACCO management, loan management, school management, and HR and payroll. We map your workflow with you, give you a fixed quote before any work starts, take payment in three stages of 50/25/25, and hand over the source code and data so the system belongs to you.
What separates a Kampala build from a generic one is the local plumbing: e-receipts through URA's EFRIS for VAT-registered businesses, collections through MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money, and payroll that deducts PAYE and NSSF. Our proof is Growth Informer Business, our own live cloud POS, inventory and business platform, and Moyo Pay, our own dual-currency wallet on a double-entry ledger with Mobile Money and USSD. If an off-the-shelf tool will do your job for less, we will say so before we quote.
Systems our software developers in Kampala build
Most enquiries come from a business or institution that has outgrown Excel, WhatsApp groups and carbon receipt books. These are the systems we build most often, with the modules buyers ask for and the Ugandan requirement each one has to handle.
POS and inventory
Sales across branches, stock transfers between shop and store, purchase orders, supplier balances, barcode scanning and end of day cash-up per till, with payments recorded as cash, card or Mobile Money. If you are VAT registered, URA requires your receipts and invoices to go through EFRIS, and URA offers a system-to-system connection so a POS can fiscalise each sale instead of staff retyping it into the EFRIS app. You can see this category of software working in Growth Informer Business, our own live cloud POS and inventory platform.
ERP for growing organisations
When sales, stock, procurement, accounts and HR sit in separate tools, an ERP ties them to one database with role-based access and approvals, so a purchase requested at a Mukono branch is approved in Kampala and posted to the accounts once. We build in phases, starting with the department that loses the most money to manual work. Read our guide to ERP software in Uganda before you settle on scope.
SACCO and loan management
Member registration, savings and share accounts, loan applications, guarantors, repayment schedules, penalties, arrears ageing and member statements, with repayments collected through MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money. SACCOs and money lenders in Uganda are licensed and supervised by the Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority (UMRA) under the Tier 4 Microfinance Institutions and Money Lenders Act, 2016. Compliance stays your obligation; the system gives you the audit trail and reports to evidence it. See what a loan management system in Uganda should include.
School management
Admissions, fees billing and balances, fee payments by Mobile Money or bank, attendance, report cards and parent communication, set up term by term. Because a school holds personal data on children and parents, access is limited by role and every change to a record is logged.
HR and payroll
Staff records, leave, attendance, manager approvals and payroll runs that calculate PAYE and NSSF, where the employee contributes 5% of gross pay and the employer adds 10%. Rates are held as settings your finance team confirms, so a change in the law is an update, not a rebuild.
Proof: platforms we build and run ourselves
Before you pick a software development company in Kampala, ask to log in to something they built and still maintain, not a slide of screenshots. Here is what we can show you.
- Growth Informer Business: our own live cloud POS, inventory and business platform, built and maintained by the same team that would build your system.
- Moyo Pay: our own dual-currency wallet on a double-entry ledger, with Mobile Money and USSD. Every movement of money is posted as a balanced debit and credit, the same discipline a SACCO or loan system depends on.
- Karibu: a travel SaaS, which shows we build software products, not only one-off client projects.
- 37 live website and app builds in our portfolio, plus more than a hundred thousand US dollars of client ad spend managed, so we design systems with sales and reporting in mind.
We have not yet shipped a production loan system for a client, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can show you is how the Moyo Pay ledger works, and a written scope that explains exactly how your loan workflow will be built.
What software costs in Kampala
Price is driven by the modules you need, the number of users and branches, integrations such as EFRIS, Mobile Money or SMS, and how much data has to move across from spreadsheets or an old system. A single shop with one till is a very different job from a three-branch hardware business in Wakiso that needs stock transfers, EFRIS receipts and Mobile Money reconciliation. The table shows our typical range for each system, shown for your region, and your exact figure is fixed in writing after scoping.
| System | Our typical price | What moves the price |
|---|---|---|
| POS and inventory | Branches, tills, stock locations, EFRIS connection and Mobile Money | |
| HR and payroll | Headcount, payroll rules, leave policies and approval levels | |
| SACCO management | Savings products, share accounts, member portal and USSD access | |
| Loan management | Loan products, repayment channels, penalties and collections workflow | |
| School management | Campuses, fee structures, report card formats and parent access | |
| ERP | Departments, modules, integrations and data migration |

How we scope, quote and hand over
1. Discovery meeting
We meet your team in Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono or Entebbe, or on a call, and walk through the real workflow: who records a sale or a loan, who approves it, where the money comes in, and which reports management reads each week. Bring sample receipts, forms, member cards and the spreadsheets you use today.
2. Written scope and fixed quote
You receive a document listing modules, user roles, integrations such as EFRIS or Mobile Money, what is out of scope, and delivery milestones, with one fixed price. Work starts only after you agree it, so the number does not creep once the build is under way.
3. 50/25/25 payments
50% to begin, 25% at an agreed milestone during the build, and the final 25% on delivery. You never pay the full amount for software you have not seen working.
4. Handover and ownership
You own the source code and your data. At handover you receive the code, database access and admin accounts, so you can keep us on for support or move to another developer without being locked in.

Choosing the best software company in Kampala
The lowest quote and the smoothest pitch tell you little. Put these questions to every company on your shortlist, and ask them to show you, not tell you.
- Can I log in to something you run? A live system beats screenshots.
- Can the POS issue EFRIS receipts system to system? If you are VAT registered, a POS that cannot talk to EFRIS leaves staff entering every sale twice.
- How do Mobile Money collections reconcile? Ask to see an MTN Mobile Money or Airtel Money payment matched to the right member, invoice or loan without manual entry.
- Is the scope written module by module? A quote without a module list is a quote that will grow.
- Do we get the source code and data in writing? Not just a licence to use them.
- Does the system support our data protection duties? Organisations that collect personal data must register with the Personal Data Protection Office under the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, and the software should give you role-based access and change logs to back that up.
- Who fixes bugs after launch? Agree response times and support costs before you sign.
When not to build custom
If you run one shop with standard stock, or lend from a single simple loan product, a ready-made system is often cheaper and faster to start with, and we will tell you so. Custom earns its cost when your workflow is your advantage, when you run several branches or products, or when per-user subscription fees keep climbing as you hire. Weigh it up in custom vs off-the-shelf software, and if you lend money, compare the options in our guide to the best loan management software in Uganda.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a software company in Kampala charge for a custom system?
Our custom business systems are typically priced at , depending on modules, users, branches and integrations such as EFRIS or Mobile Money. You get a fixed quote in writing before work starts, paid in three stages of 50/25/25.
Can we meet your team before we commit?
Yes. We are based in Kampala and can meet you for discovery in Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono or Entebbe, or on a call. Message us on WhatsApp on +256 702 946 946 with your organisation type and the workflow you want to fix, and we will arrange a time.
Who owns the software once it is built?
You do. You receive the source code, database access and admin accounts, and your data stays yours. You can keep us on for support or hand the system to another developer.
Have you built loan management systems for lenders before?
Not yet for a client in production, and we say so openly. Our fintech proof is Moyo Pay, our own dual-currency wallet on a double-entry ledger with Mobile Money and USSD. That ledger and payment work is the core a loan system is built on, and your written scope will show exactly how your loan products, schedules and penalties are handled.
Should we buy off-the-shelf software instead of building custom?
Sometimes, yes. If your process is standard and you have one location or one simple product, a ready-made tool is usually cheaper to start. Custom makes sense when you run several branches or products, need Mobile Money and EFRIS built into your own workflow, or want to own the code instead of paying rising per-user fees.
