What your loan system handles

Every module is built around how lending actually runs in Uganda and East Africa: mid-range Android, slow data and Mobile Money as the default rail for money in and out. What we build is the Growth Informer Loan and SACCO Management System, configured around your own loan products.

Loan products your way

Define each product with its own interest method, term, fees and eligibility, so a 30-day salary advance and a one-year SACCO loan follow different rules automatically.

Applications and approvals

Capture applications, attach client KYC and guarantors, and route them through your approval steps so a loan officer records it and a manager signs it off with a clear audit trail.

Disburse by Mobile Money

Send approved funds straight to an MTN or Airtel number and log the transaction reference, so disbursement and its record stay tied together instead of living in a separate app.

Repayment schedules and reminders

Generate a full schedule per loan, mark payments as they come in over Mobile Money, and flag instalments that fall due so officers know who to follow up this week.

Arrears, penalties and interest

Track days in arrears per client, apply your penalty rules to late instalments, and calculate interest on a reducing balance by default, so borrowers pay interest only on what they still owe. Flat rate is offered only where your licence and loan policy allow it. New to lending? Read how to start a money lending business in Uganda.

Statements and portfolio reports

Print a client statement showing every disbursement, repayment and balance, and pull portfolio reports on outstanding principal, arrears rate and collections for your books and your board.

Collections and payment gateways

Collections decide whether a loan book makes money. Your system sends disbursements out and takes repayments in over the rails your borrowers already use, and matches every payment to the right loan so no officer retypes references. It is the same Mobile Money and double-entry ledger work we already run in Moyo Pay, our own wallet.

Mobile Money in and out

Disburse to MTN and Airtel numbers and collect repayments from the same wallets, with each transaction reference stored against the loan it belongs to.

Allocation and reconciliation

Incoming payments are allocated to penalties, interest and principal in the order your policy sets, part payments and overpayments included, and a daily reconciliation report shows what arrived, what matched and what needs a person to check.

Cards, bank and a payment gateway

Where borrowers or employers pay by card or bank transfer, we connect a payment gateway so those collections land in the same loan ledger as Mobile Money, not in a separate spreadsheet.

What lenders in Uganda ask for first

USSD, SMS reminders, guarantors, portfolio at risk and regulator reports. Each one is scoped with you at the start and priced inside your fixed quote, so nothing arrives later as a surprise add-on.

USSD for basic phones

Many borrowers do not own a smartphone. A USSD menu lets them check a balance, see the next instalment and start a Mobile Money repayment from any handset. Moyo Pay, our own wallet, already runs on USSD. The short code comes from a mobile network or an aggregator, and we connect your menus to it.

A borrower app

An Android app under your brand where borrowers apply, upload documents, follow their schedule, download statements and repay by MTN or Airtel Mobile Money. Borrowers who prefer the web get the same features in the browser.

SMS reminders

Automatic messages before an instalment falls due, on the due date and when a loan slips into arrears, in the wording you choose. Every message is logged against the loan, so officers see what the borrower was told.

Guarantors and collateral

Record each guarantor with contacts and ID, see how many loans one guarantor is backing, and register collateral such as land titles, vehicle logbooks or household items with photos, valuations and release dates.

PAR dashboards

Portfolio at risk at 1, 30, 60 and 90 days, arrears ageing, collections against target and performance by officer and branch, updated as repayments come in instead of once at month end.

Reports for UMRA or Bank of Uganda returns

UMRA licenses and supervises tier 4 institutions, SACCOs included, and money lenders; Bank of Uganda supervises microfinance deposit-taking institutions. Filing any return your regulator requires is your obligation. The system produces the portfolio, arrears and financial figures behind those returns, so nobody retypes them.

Migration from Excel or paper

We import your client list, open loans and balances from Excel, or capture paper ledgers with your team, then reconcile the opening balances with you so day one on the new system starts from numbers you trust.

Onboarding in person in Kampala

We train your loan officers, managers and accountants in person at your Kampala office before go-live, then stay on WhatsApp for questions. For branches outside Kampala, we agree the onboarding plan in your quote.

Branches, users and approvals

Add branches, officers and approval levels as the loan book grows. You own the system, so there is no fee per branch or per user, only the hosting and support you choose.

Rent or own your loan software?

Most loan software in Uganda is rented by the month. Published plans we checked in September 2026 ran from about UGX 95,000 to over UGX 700,000 a month, and some vendors add a setup fee in the millions of shillings. Renting is often the right call. Owning a custom system wins in specific situations, and it pays to know which one you are in before you sign.

Rent when

  • You are starting out. One branch, a few officers and a standard weekly or monthly loan product fit a rented package well.
  • The package already matches your policy. Its loan types, screens and reports do what you need without workarounds.
  • You need to be live quickly. A rented plan can usually start soon and keeps your capital in the loan book.
  • You are testing a lending model. Rent while you prove it works, then decide whether a build is worth it.

If renting fits, GI Lending is the hosted loan software we make. Try it live, on a sample lender.

Own when

  • Your products are unusual. Salary loans checked against an employer, group loans, asset finance or any product with rules a package cannot follow.
  • You have many users or branches. Per-user and per-branch fees grow as you grow; a system you own has none.
  • You need integrations. Your own Mobile Money collections, USSD, a borrower app under your brand, employer payroll or your accounting system.
  • You want to own the data. The client book and loan history sit in a database you control, and no vendor can switch you off.

Do the three-year sum before you decide. A UGX 700,000 monthly plan comes to UGX 25.2 million over 36 months before any setup fee, and many plans cost more as you add users or branches. A custom loan system is a one-off build, typically , plus hosting and whatever support you choose, and you keep it. For a single-branch lender on a simple product, renting usually costs less, and we will say so when you ask.

Built for the way you actually lend

A loan book runs on trust and accurate numbers. The system is built so field officers, managers and the person reviewing the portfolio all see the same figures.

  • Mobile Money native. Disbursement and repayment are built around MTN and Airtel from the start, not bolted on as an afterthought.
  • Works on the phones your team has. Runs on mid-range Android over slow data, so loan officers can record repayments in the field, not only at the office.
  • A ledger you can trust. Balances follow double-entry accounting, the same discipline behind our Moyo Pay wallets, so your books stay in balance.
  • Roles and permissions. Loan officers, managers and accountants each see and do only what their role allows, with an audit trail on approvals and edits.
  • Your data stays yours. Export the client book, the loan book and every statement whenever you need to, with no lock-in.

Why trust us to handle money

We have not shipped a loan management system for a client yet, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can show is proof that we build financial software that moves real money and keeps accurate books. Moyo Pay is our dual-currency fintech wallet running on a double-entry ledger with Mobile Money and USSD, the same ledger discipline a loan book needs. Growth Informer Business is our own live cloud platform for POS, inventory and business management that owners run from their phone. That is the foundation your loan management system is built on. The payment plan protects you too: under our 50/25/25 plan you pay 50 percent to start, then see and test the working system at the review stage before you pay the second 25 percent.

Loan system questions

Every loan system is priced on scope, so you get one fixed quote after we understand how you lend and before any work starts. The typical range for your region is shown on this page. Four things move the price: how many loan products and interest methods you run; which integrations you need, such as MTN and Airtel Mobile Money, USSD, a card or bank payment gateway, SMS reminders or your accounting system; how deep the reporting goes, from portfolio at risk and arrears ageing to board packs and the figures behind any returns you file with your regulator; and how many users, branches and approval levels the system must handle. Tell us how you lend on WhatsApp and we give you a clear figure, paid 50/25/25.

Rent if you are starting out with one branch, a few officers and a standard loan product: a monthly plan is often the cheaper way in, and we will tell you so. Own a custom system when your loan products are unusual, when you have many users or branches and per-user or per-branch fees keep growing, when you need integrations a package does not offer, such as your own Mobile Money collections, USSD or a borrower app, or when you want your client book in a database you control. Add up three years of monthly fees and any setup fee before you decide.

Yes. Borrowers can repay from MTN and Airtel Mobile Money and, where you need it, by card or bank transfer through a payment gateway. Borrowers on basic phones can start a repayment from a USSD menu. Each payment is matched to its loan by the transaction reference and allocated to penalties, interest and principal in the order your policy sets, and a daily reconciliation report flags anything that needs a person to check.

It supports them, and filing stays your obligation. UMRA, the Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority, licenses and supervises tier 4 microfinance institutions, SACCOs included, and money lenders, while Bank of Uganda supervises microfinance deposit-taking institutions. The system produces the portfolio, arrears and financial figures your returns draw on, so your team is not rebuilding them from spreadsheets. We build the reports; we do not file returns for you or give legal advice.

It depends on scope, but a focused first version with loan products, approvals, Mobile Money disbursement, repayment schedules and core reporting is realistic in a matter of weeks, not months. We agree the timeline in writing before we start and build in stages so you see progress.

Every project runs on a 50/25/25 plan: 50 percent to start, 25 percent at the review stage after you have seen and tested the working system, and 25 percent at completion. You are never asked for the full amount up front.

You do, completely. You own the source code, the database, the client book and every statement. There is no per-user licence trap and no lock-in, and you can export your data or move hosting whenever you want.

Yes. We build it around your structure, so a SACCO can track member records, link loans to guarantors and savings, and run committee approvals, while a money lender can keep it lean with fast disbursement and arrears tracking. We scope it to how your institution actually operates.
